A passing game: A history of the CFL Review from Amazon.ca: Frank Cosentino's title "A Passing Game: A History of the CFL" should ideally be taken figuratively, not literally, as a tongue-in-cheek narrative of the history of the operating of the CFL during a 30-year period (roughly 1965-1995). It is a third person "behind the scenes" viewpoint which mostly takes us into the boardrooms and executive offices, as opposed to the football field itself. The book is so clear with anecdotes that it seems as if the author attended all these meetings...and perhaps he did. |

Robokicker: An odyssey through the CFL
From www.geomatics.ucalgary.ca: This book covers the career of Roughriders kicker Dave Ridgway from his youth to the 1989 Grey Cup game, in which he was instrumental in the Roughrider victory. One major flaw of the book is that the chapter devoted to Dave's college career neglects to mention what degree he left college with! (I suppose that isn't important to a football player.) |

Bigger Balls: The CFL and overcoming the Canadian inferiority complex
From Amazon.ca: More than just a chronicle of Jeff Giles' tenure as the President and COO of the Canadian football League, Bigger Balls is a metaphor for the state of Canadian Business. Using the issues and challenges that affect the CFL, Giles analyses how and why we need to re-evaluate our approach to competition and the entrepreneurial spirit in Canada today. |

The Grey Cup: A history
From geocities.com/Colosseum/5743/books.htm: Little time is spent on the Grey Cup prior to World War Two, which is rather unfortunate in a book claiming to portray the history of the championship; however, the book is quite an interesting read. Kelly undertook many interviews with players and coaches of the post-war era, and has included anecdotes from these personalities in his narrative, preserving the colourful, if often exaggerated tales of many Canadian football legends. Kelly's work provides a useful resource that compliments Cosentino's weighty scholarly histories for the post-war era, and ranks highly as a general text on the post-war era of CFL teams. |

Heroes of the game: A history of the Grey Cup
From Amazon.ca: This book provides a great historical overview of the history of the Grey Cup and was amazing. I felt like I was actually at a few of the games! If you're a new comer to the game this would definitely be a good book to grab. |

Crimes & punishment: Life as a CFL official
From bookpublishers.mb.ca: Former CFL referee's memoir offers a unique perspective
"After 40 years of officiating, I'm getting rid of all the demons. You keep quiet when you're an official. You really don't discuss the business, and that's the way it is."
